I just finished revising and remaking my BUSUU presentation about the pros and cons of the site. I chose this one to remake because it was very bland and I wanted to give it something more. To do this I used prezi.com to make a new presentation. I used a template that I thought looks nice and just filled in the information. To make it even better than the old one I made it more interactive in a sense, so that way it flows more that the old power point.

The way to incorporate apps into the teaching method is a good idea to use. This is because it has the ability to want students to learn. This can be done if the apps that are chosen meet the required guidelines. The apps need to have the ability to effectively communicate its subject matter, be inviting and intuitive to use, has a range of activities for many different skill levels, encourages active learning, evokes student engagement, and creates social interaction between student and teacher. This are some of the main points that the apps should have to be successful teaching tools.
Link to prezi about this topic. When using the internet there is a set of rules that are more or less one and the same as the unspoken rules that everyone knows. So, these are the five netiquette guidelines that I have come up with. One, when using email one should always make sure that there is no grammar errors or spelling mistakes. Two, when in a public or private chat room, always use informative subject lines to make the flow of converse easy to follow. Three, on social media of any sort please only post appropriate material, don't post something that you wouldn't want a parent to see because everything on the internet is public. Four, when setting up a password online use something that has some level of complexity to it, never use your birthday or name. Five, bullying is a thing that happens on the internet, so never be the type of person that uses this medium to bully someone, and if you are being bullied inform an adult about the issue and just close the laptop or block the people that are doing the harassment.
The purpose of this video is to introduce myself into the GIMM program at BSU. In this video is just a quick little snipet of who I am and what I'm apart of at college and what my thoughts are on the EdTech class and the GIMM program so far. This video is intended for people that just want to get a brief intro about myself so that it is some basis to go off of in the future. From this video I hope that you can just get what my ideas of what the GIMM program hold and what I may want to do with it.
The likes that I have about the socrative platform for making online quizzes is that it is simple and easy to use, and has the results and quiz downloadable. The thing that I don't like is that there is many features that are locked away behind a pay wall. The possible applications of this site is that it would work well when a teacher wants to quiz the students in the way of a review game. There isn't any concerns that I have about the site, it is overall very well resource.
The game I decided to play with is on the site Brain Pop. I played a game called Branches of the Government. The game is fun to play because it tests the skills one has about their knowledge about the three branches of the US Government. This is a good game to play because it has a way that wants someone to learn about the government and what aspects each one takes care of. Overall it is a good educational tool that can get students in the US Government that could help them understand certain topics that are happening in the present and in the past. I like the technology of the smart table that allows a variety of students that have need a different way to learn with a device that can cater to them. Having the smart table be able to have different functions programmed into it that can have a lot of different teaching methods that can help round out a students learning. The idea of being able to see what actions with the touch tracker is a very good thing so you can see what tools and how into the student is on the topic or lesson they are doing. I believe if I had this kind of table I would like to make it to work with teaching students about 3D modeling, because you can almost sculpt something in a virtual environment by using the technologies of this table. It can also be used as a cognitive exercise to test reflexes and other problem solving skills.
In this chapter the author talked a lot about schema. With schema my understanding that I take away form this chapter is that it is a set response to a particular situation. The way that one can develop this schema is brought to light in one's mind is from experience. Through past experiences people learn way to do something that just become natural after a certain amount of time of it happening. So schema is something that can be brought about from learning in the classroom. The way that schema helps us perceive intelligence is kind of strange in a sense, people naturally think that a person is not smart because they don't know how to do a certain task and vice versa, we see people as smart if they know how to do and know certain things. the problem with this is when we see the so called dumb person, with schema in mind, those people more than likely don't have those experiences yet. And the smart people have those past experiences to help them. So schema is both good and bad, and its use of judging intelligence should not be used in the scheme of things.
After reading the chapter "Everything Worth Knowing," I got a good understanding about the importance of updating teaching. My first impressions is that the author shows the idea of how the use of teaching hasn't changed for quite a long time, and with this in my mind I saw how the author wanted to express why this needs to change. The way that the author does it, was a creative manner that engaged the reader to continue and take the information into thought. I also really like the part about how teachers needs to figure out methods that engage all types of learners in their classrooms. This is one of the overall messages I found spread throughout the chapter. Overall the information had good key insights and will most likely stay in my mind for a decent time.
